Frequently asked.

How long does it take to get a private pilot license?
Most students at The Pilot Port complete PPL in 4 to 9 months flying twice a week. The FAA minimum is 40 hours. The U.S. average is closer to 60 to 75. Concentrated training (4+ flights a week) can finish in 2 to 3 months.
How much does PPL cost at The Pilot Port?
Block pricing depends on hours flown, instructor time, ground school, examiner fees, and books. PPL in South Florida typically lands in the $14,000 to $22,000 range with meaningful variance based on student progression. Current block rates are sent on request to fly@thepilotport.com.
Do I need a college degree to be a pilot?
No. The PPL has no college requirement. Many professional pilots have a degree because regional and major airlines look for one, but it is not a flight training prerequisite.
What aircraft will I train on?
The Cirrus SR20. Glass panel (Garmin Perspective+), CAPS whole-airframe parachute, fixed gear, four-seat. The same aircraft you will fly through your instrument rating and beyond.
